We chat to Gil, an amazingly talented photographer based in Canada.
My medium is the photograph.
My subjects include street, landscape, nature, portrait and still photography.
It’s a lot, I know, but I like to challenge labels and the constraints that come with them.
For me, the photograph is the beginning, middle and end of what I search for.
I have been inspired and influenced by many forms of art, personalities, situations and life.
One constant I have taken is to search for a meaning beyond the obvious and strive to communicate a message.
When I’m on the street, I’m searching like a diviner searching for a source of water.
I’m searching for intersections where time, space, environment and people, including me, connect at one unique moment.
A portal where everything becomes a part of everything.
These moments, for me, are a gateway for an exchange of unfettered energy.
It all happens in a fraction of a second.
I become an integral part of the quirks or oddities in time and space, the Identifier or the Witness.
